“Nana” is a name that has been traced to several languages.  To Norse, where it meant grandmother or grandma.  In Norse, the original meaning was “illuminator,” certainly appropriate for grandma’s all over the world. “Nana” is also cited of Hawaiian origin and meaning “name of a spring month, name of a star,” certainly appropriate for all grandma’s who are stars to their families.
